Fossiljones
Hello Forum, Found this river diving in South Carolina. Not sure what to make of it, looks like solid bone, like a dugong rib, except that its very small, only 4 inches. One end is broken, and solid, no marrow cavity. The other end terminates in a point, and where the pointy end is chipped, it looks like normal spongy looking bone structure. Any ideas what this may belong to? calhounensis
Could be an Eocene sirenian rib.
Macrophyseter
I agree with rib. If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!
5 Humper
Sure looks like a dugong (Sirenian) rib. Congratulations
