A couple of lobsters

RJB

Recommended Posts

I bought this lobster concretion from a guy right here in Helena at the rock and jem show.  Took me about 3 years to get this finished cause of the problems I ran into.  I would get frustrated and put it aside for some months and then go on the attack again, run into another problem and toss aside.  Anyways, after my son picked it up not too long ago and seeing how he thought it was super cool, It renewed my interest and I finished it up.   This is Hoploparia from the Bear Paw Formation.

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

Ron, you’re slacking. I only see one lobster and your post indicates 2. Did the other go AWOL?

I changed my mind and decided to wait till the other one is done to post it.

Amazing, work of art. You don't have by any chance photo of how it looked like originally?

I have no pictures of this when I started but here is a picture of when i started to shape the rock to where I wanted it to be.
