Kaotek
Hi everyone, I recently discovered a collection of fossils found in the area and was hoping to learn more about what may be there. Any help or insight is appreciated! Thanks in advance for the help!
Kane
These look like Mazon Creek concretions. I'll tag @Nimravis who is a seasoned collector of this material. For now, have a look at his thread to see how your pieces compare: 3 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
Fossildude19
@RCFossils is an expert in these fossils as well. His Galleries are nearly a guidebook for the Mazon Creek Flora and Fauna. @fiddlehead is the guy who literally wrote the books on Mazon Creek flora and fauna. Perhaps they will have a look too. 5 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Nimravis
The vast majority these Mazon Creek concretions are Pecopteris , but I also see a 2 Neuropteris, 2 Annularia and one Alethopteris. Pull the above names up on the Internet and you will be able to separate, I have to run to work before the Polar Vortex hits- brrrrr. Nice collection.

Fossildude19
Better pictures of each individual fossil would help, as would a ruler for scale. These plants can be id'd based on veination of the pinnules. These are my ideas: From linked website above: 8 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." caldigger
I'm able to identify this one as an unopened nodule. You're welcome!

Kaotek
Thanks everyone for the insight so far. It’s very cool to be able to start indentifying what was here. Between the fossils and arrowheads there is a lot to learn about. I’ve added some more pictures of the fossils as well. Thanks again!
