dèbora
Found in my driveway in Annandale, VA. It actually looks a little like wood but is hard like rock. I'm not getting excited but a rockhound friend suggested i run it by you-all. Let me know your thoughts.
ynot
Welcome to TFF! Sorry, but this looks more like a non fossil rock to Me. Good (nature) fake though. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Agree with Tony. The coloration made me think of some igneous/metamorphic rock maybe some feldspar in a vein but its pretty worn and hiding all the crystal faces but could be just staining. I would have picked it up and brought it home too. Regards, Chris
dèbora
Thanks, all - I was feeling rock, too, but wanted to run it past some other eyes. Sorry if there's a duplication; someone said they couldn't see the pictures. I always bring rocks home Maybe I'm a penguin.

I can see why you picked it up I probably would have too - looks like an interesting tooth mimic. Better to pick it up and check it out, than to have tossed a decent fossil.
