I found this brachiopod as float on the side of the road. It was very near the transition of Devonian to Mississippian Lodgepole Formation in Little Belt Mountains, in Montana. The fossils is large. I'm thinking it might be a spiriferida.

The outer shell is worn of, but the v-shape is typical for a spiriferid. So I think you are on the right track

Yes, probably a spiriferid,  more than that will be difficult to say the least with this preservation.

Hey thanks, Manticorasmen, Tidgy's dad and Nimravis. The upper half of the exposed brachiopod is damaged some. There is intact shell on the lower exposed half. My best option is to remove martix to see how big this thing is. There is no ribbing present that I can see. There is growth rings. We will see if there is more details to lead to ID of this spiriferid.
