Possible permineralized fern wood?

Apologies, I was out looking for other kinds of permineralized material today and just as I was leaving the search area I found this sliver of material. For some reason I just can't get a good pic of it to convey the material better.

I do hope to get back there to search for more material but my thought is this is fern. Maybe I need to get a bit more daylight and a little further away.

It's a Lithostrotionid colonial rugose coral.

Very nice too.:)

Gee! I wasn't even close! So sad. Nonetheless, good to know and I am one more ID'ed specimen less ignorant. haha

I was already going to have trouble reconciling finding it next to a Sigillaria tree I found. I think I will just classify it as floating material from a younger formation until or if I actually find more of it.

Thank you!

Looks like either Syringopora or Siphonodendron coral.

Tarquin @TqB will correct me I'm sure. ;)

I think it's a Syringopora (so tabulate, not rugose).

There don't appear to be any well developed septa which rules out Lithostrotionids.

There do seem to be the funnel shaped tabulae characteristic of syringoporids that show up as circles in some of the transverse sections. There are also a few horizontal connecting tubuli.
