Recommended Posts

I went fossil hunting near Tacoma Washington and Geologic maps call the zone around the spot   "tertiary" So anything from 2.58 MYA to 66 MYA.
I was wondering if someone could Identify what kind of shelled creature this was. Also the small cone at the end. Thanks all (FIRST REAL FOSSILS FOUND IN WA)

The last one looks like a turritellid gastropod, the others are bivalves.

Probably right because those are from Washington. I'll keep my eye out for other commenters but thanks for the quick comment.

Somebody who knows the area or Tertiary molluscs will be able to give closer ids, I'm sure. :)

It would help if you could narrow down the age or the name of formation, to be able to narrow down the ID. 'Tertiary' was a long stretch of time! - almost the whole span between the last dinosaurs and us. You'll need a good geologic map of WA.

Still might help more to have the formation name, if you can find that info.

Also, can you provide larger versions of those first 3 pics?
