Rhacolepis composite?

ReptileTooth

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've been offered this Rhacolepis,  it seems it got broken and then repaired, plus it seems there's some paint  shade around the specimen.  Do you think it's a composite of two different concretions to obtain a fish with  head and tail or a damaged genuine one?

Thanks.

That is a very common fish and even though lots of times these are broken and repaired, this seems to be all the same fish?

Nice example. I'd add it to my collection. :)

A nice Vinctifer with well defined corpus.  A real keeper.

This is  Rhacolepis buccalis. Vinctifer has different scales like the ones show below. The picture is from the Internet.

Thanks for the insightful comments!

I'll make an offer and try to get it, as the head of this specimen is not ''exploded''.

OOPs!  Of course, mea culpa.  Thanks for the catch my mind clearly was elsewhere.  Best.
