JasT
Hello, In my third mystery find around the Kansas City and Blue Springs, MO areas I found these specimens. And I have yet been able to find any photos on the internet that can come close to their character. Can anyone identify what are these tiny egg-like beads? I hope my photos help. Thanks for your attention.
Kane
These look very much like oolite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oolite Alternatively, they may be some form of botyroidal crystalline structure of some sort with a different origin, but I'm sure @ynot would ID this in a flash. 6 ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer
ynot
I think these are a mineral deposit. There are several minerals that can form small spheres. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." abyssunder
I'm inclined toward oolitic limestone and oolitic chert (for the one at the left side in the first picture). 2 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. JasT
I am impressed with the answers I received, thank you all very much. The oolites being in chert confused me. If one doesn't know the right words to type into the internet, it makes it a losing battles. Thanks again.
