Well done!  Voice of experience...be careful who you tell, and when.  I'd advise getting your full "finder's fee" before pointing others to the site.

What county in WV? This is fantastic!

Head for any shale outcrops near where they've been mining coal in any county and you'll more than likely find plant material. Get geological maps published by the state and look for areas where Pennsylvanian age outcrops are found and you will find plant fossils and possibly insects and arthropods. If you spend a short time at each of a few different locations the first time out it will up your chances of success. Keep the search area confined to an area of about 50 square miles and don't forget to record where you've been and what you found as you search. It will keep you from wasting time in the future trying to remember what was where. After you visit 50 sites or more things can become quite confusing.

This should be helpful: http://www.wvgs.wvnet.edu/GIS/CBMP/all_mining.html

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
