Hash plate oddity fossil - bryozoan?

Okay, I left this specimen where I could find it in the future, but the sun and atmosphere was such I could not get a crisp photo or achieve a decent zoom.

It almost appears bryozoan in nature, but the regular spacing and rounded conic shapes might be something someone has seen before?

The low resolution of your images may cause difficulties in the ID. :headscratch:

Thanks, that is what I thought. I will retrieve it during a future visit to that locale.

There seem to be bryozoans in that rock, but it's hard to say for certain.

Definitely worth bringing home if you can.

Retrieval of specimen is scheduled for Sunday and I will be sure to provide measurement or place a scale by it.

Could the conical shapes not be what the bryozoan/coral is encrusting?

 Mike

I believe that is the colony shape on the upper side. The encrusted being the more linear lower edge.

It is definitely more encrusted on the lower edge. Almost like there are 3 layers. For some reason my cell pic is much cleared than what I can post. The colony shape to the right is less encrusted but still appears to have a thin veneer.

I was going to hazard a guess at Prismopora and hopefully will be able to quickly find this specimen tomorrow morning after our local dust storm settles down.
