zofiava
Hi, my daughter found this in the ocean off of Sanibel Island, Florida US. We tried comparing it to shark teeth, but it doesn't seem to match any that I've seen. Hopefully someone here can solve our little mystery! Thank you for looking! I am going to attach the other photos in subsequent posts because I am getting an error that I am only allowed to upload 3.95MB, and each photo is only around 1mb so I am not sure what I am doing wrong. daves64
Looks like a worn coral possibly. 1 Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.
zofiava
Interesting, I didn't think to look at coral. I briefly wondered if it was not a tooth at all, but it just seems so... toothy. Off to look at corals! Thank you! zofiava
Researching this would be easier if coralite wasn't a personal/health care brand So, no chance of this being a tooth then? She will be disappointed, finding teeth is the best part of any beach trip for her. Thanks again!
abyssunder
It looks like a coral calyx mold, to me. 1 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way. zofiava
That was a good jumping point for finding some similar looking coral molds, thanks! While I haven't found any that look quite the same (most seem more round than triangular when looking at it from the "point") I do see some similarities!
