Therapod claw from UK

Pterygotus

Recommended Posts

I recently saw this claw labelled as therapod 4.9cm and Jurassic. From saltwick bay, Whitby, UK. Does anyone know what it could be or if it could just be an interestingly shaped rock?

The same piece has been shown here on the forum a while ago. It's flint or silex. The circled red part shows how you can see it.

Definitely flint. There's loads of it even on northern UK beaches well away from modern Chalk outcrops, derived glacially from now denuded Chalk layers that were once much more widespread.

I was sure I have seen it recently....  :)
