Gazelle California Coral?

Zenmaster6

Recommended Posts

Off the road cut in Gazelle Callahan Road Northern California. The location is supposed to be Silurian sediment.
I suspect this is solely a mineral but I thought it was strange. Let me know what you think. I'm not looking for specific species, kinda just yes coral or no coral.

There is some calcite vein filling (3rd pic), but also some prominent polygonal structures reminiscent of favositid corals attached to it.

No, in the third pic, I think I can see that the polygonal structures are worn down calcite crystals.

So, yes:

This is indeed also a possibility, thanks for the hint!

@Zenmaster6, please try to poke the polygonal things with a needle, what happens?

And try to put one of these in acid - do they dissolve completely?
