Small skull of a Miocene fish?

Hello, first post from a long time window gazer... I found this small skull, on the james river in Virginia, the backside looks fishy, the front looks curious, seeing a bit of my own reflection I guess.  Sea robin maybe? From a beach with Miocene era sharks teeth I believe, any other ideas or directions would be appreciated! Thank you for your time...

There is something fishy about the fishyness of this piece.

I don't think it's a fish skullcap at all. It does look like a bit of a skull though.

Thanks for your reply, any thoughts on what it could be from?  It is quite dense for its size, no visible holes for teeth that I can see... what about something reptilian? Thanks for your thoughts.

I think you've got it; the centerline portion of one, at any rate.
If fossil, it is a pretty rare find!

Wow, very interesting, it does not react to a "burn test" and clicks like a rock.  It's got such a "face" like structure, very cool, the more I look the more I can imagine tail feathers... thanks for the insights!
