Pterygotus
How do these pieces of amber look? The sphere is from Russia and the other one is Dominican blue amber. The sphere’s weight is 1817g
JohnBrewer
At those sizes I’d be VERY suspicious! 1 John Map of UK fossil sites
gigantoraptor
Not sure from about the smallest two pieces, but that big piece looks very suspicous. Such big pieces are rare and red amber is also very rare. The chance of such a big piece of red amber hitting the market is very low.
goatinformationist
For something like the large item I would look for bubbles and irregularities in the surface polish which I can see in the smaller pieces. I see none but it might be the photograph. And yeah, at that size I would be very careful.
caldigger
Don't know about the blue amber. All the stuff I have ever seen has been an opaque light blue. Not clear cobalt like your picture.
daves64
That so called Dominican blue is pics of 2 different pieces. The shape of both is almost identical, but if you look at the blotches in both of them, you'll see they aren't the same stone. Looks like a "bait & switch" to me on that one. The red sphere could be nothing more than plastic or man made resin. Best to stay clear of both offerings. 3 Accomplishing the impossible means only that the boss will add it to your regular duties.
