Found this at Topsail Island, NC.  Any ideas what type of shark this was from?  It is about 1.5-1.75 inches in length

Welcome to forum :)

The tooth appears to be a worn Carcharocles shark, maybe megalodon.

If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!

Macrophyseter,

That's what I was thinking, but I have no experience with this and it seemed too cool to be true!

I can only agree with the other's opinions.

Nice find.

More than likely angustidens since most of the spoil on the beach is Oligocene. Doesn't lok like any megalodon I've seen.

I agree with this. Plus there seems to be a worn cusp at the right.

I'm going with Otodus auriculatus / O. angustidens (ancestors to the megalodon).

Still a cool find!

Oh, and welcome to the forum!
