Any idea what this might be?

Looks like it maybe some sort of tooth ? Shame it's missing the tip.

I have had a suggestion that it maybe one of the sections of an Ammonite beak/mouth parts

I'll go along with this too. Looks like it could be a nautilus beak or Rhyncholite, as they are called.
