Are These Real?

Hey everyone!

So, I have recently acquired some fossils and, forever the skeptic and pessimist, I just want to see if they're (likely to be) real or not.

Spinosaurus Tooth (Egypt) -

Mosasaur Teeth (Morocco) -

I'm very aware of the fake jaw aspect, I'm just interested in whether or not the teeth are real.

Thank you!

I haven't ever seen fossils from Egypt on the market. And there are SO many Spino teeth from Morocco on the market that it's more likely from Morocco.

The pterosaur bone looks like a typical Kem Kem fossil with the red colouration. It does seem to be hollow with rather thin bone walls. So I suppose it could indeed be a pterosaur bone.

That Mosasaur "jaw" is indeed a composite. The teeth are pretty much always real in these because so many Mosasaur teeth get dug up. And yeah these look very much real with fake roots that attach them to the random pieces of bone in the fake matrix. Dipping this piece in water might make the glue dissolve so you could salvage the teeth. Though it might make the teeth more fragile.

Thank you for replying, LordTrilobite.

To be fair, the information I got on the Spino tooth was ''North Africa, likely Egypt.'' So, I would assume Morocco would be a safer bet. Nevertheless, would you say it is genuine?

Knowing that the Mosasaur teeth are genuine suits me, despite the fake matrix. I'll likely keep them in the matrix, at least for now, to simply preserve the teeth.

Thank you again.

Yes, it's normally only worth faking larger teeth. The teeth are fairly common and there are so many on the market it's not really worth faking small teeth at all.
