Wonderful ambient lighting!  And it so nicely highlights the intricate beauty of the ammonite.  Thanks for showing these.

A few more ammonites cut and polished, some will be used in stained glass, the others probably to be set in resin.

The darker ones are from the Yorkshire coast, lighter ones from Somerset.

Thanks

Neil.

Hi all, some pics of a new wall clock I'm making, thinly sliced ammonites set in stained glass, backlit with LED lighting, almost finished.

Thanks for looking.

Regards

Neil

Wow, these are all so beautiful, and what great craftsmanship displayed! I'm curious to as how you got the idea to make these, and is this just a hobby or do you do this as a business as well? I could certainly see you being very successful if you were to sell a few! Regardless, every piece is a treasure in my eyes.

Thankyou, it's not a business but I have sold a few and given some away to family and friends.

I got the idea to make them after grinding some ammonites thinly and noticing that quite a few were translucent enough to let light pass through, I then hollowed out a few Dorset and Yorkshire ammos in matrix to stand on their own and let the light pass through them. I had also seen some of the agate lamps and thought ammonites could be used the same way.

Neil.
