Nimravis
To day I stopped by the ESCONI Rock / Fossil and Gem Show that was held today and again tomorrow at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, Illinois. It is a nice little show and a great way to start the Spring season. In my opinion, the show was a little smaller than last year, but that did not stop the people from coming to seen what was for sale and to look at displays of nice fossils. The ESCONI Show is a free show, no entrance fee and no parking fee. When you enter, you are greeted from members of Esconi who will give you a ticket for a door prize. Throughout the day, they draw numbers and the lucky winners get to pick an item from the prizes that they have offered. As usual, I pass my ticket onto a lucky youngster who hopefully will win one of the goodies. This year I donated over 1000 Moroccan Echinoids and a large box full of Ordovician Hash Plates that I collected from St. Leon and Lawrenceburg Indiana. All of the fossils were given to a person who was handling the Kids Corner section. This is a great spot for kids to go and get fossils, I believe many are free or at a very cheap price. Throughout the day they also run silent auctions and you can get some nice stuff for for a couple dollars. They also have better items that they Auction off in a "Live Auction" format. This year, like last, they had some great Mazon Creek fossils and some really cool looking minerals. See below-

Nimravis
I did not find any fossils that I was interested in, but did pick up a couple things on the cheap- This brand new case with 50 containers for micro fossils, the PRICE---------$5.00 Nice I then picked up a couple of the old magazines, and they appeared to be brand new. The first one that I purchased, I took both copies. The reason is that it contains an article (1971) by a person named Richard Patterson, he was a friend of my Fossil Mentor and he gave him two slabs of those trackways from Ohio and they are now in my collection. I already had 2 of the pamphlets, but at 25 cents each, I could not pass it up. I had to get this next one due to the price of dinosaur verts back in 1948- Sorry they are not oriented correctly. If you have a chance and you are in the Chicagoland area tomorrow, stop by and check it out.
caldigger
This is about as many fossils total as you would find spread throughout at our shows here. Except they would be the composite teeth on fake root type Moroccan specials.
Tidgy's Dad
Love the huge Alethoperis. And I really like the plant reconstructions too. Looks like quite a nice show, can't see the usual Moroccan naughties. The little boxes were a great bargain. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

Wrangellian
Looks like a great show for sure. Fern nodules for $4/split pair?? I'm paying too much for my Mazon stuff... Recently (this month) I attended the annual show put on by the gem/mineral/rockhound club in Victoria, and it's much as Caldigger describes. There were lots of dealers, local and 'from away', but the prices were so high, and it was mostly minerals/lapidary (not surprisingly as it's not specifically a fossil club that puts it on). I say that we are lucky around here, I will be attending a couple more shows over the next few weeks and some should be really good. As always, I will try to take some pics so other FFM can come along, at least visually.

Museum quality piece! The woman's husband had worked at the Dresden Nuclear Facility and had died recently. She had been hoping to get at least $100. I really wish we could still collect at Dresden. It was known for large, well preserved fossils. Cheers, Rich
