Please post location information of the find and something to indicate scale, such as a ruler or tape measure.

I think your "turtle" was a glob of mud or clay that has since eroded away.

There seems to be something resembling a crinoid imprint on this piece though.

I found it in central NY In Willet and the imprint is about 2 and a half inches

The big imprint seems to have segments and small bones in it, definitely not a mud glob.

I am not seeing anything that looks like bone in it. Definitely some lines of different color, but hey look more like filled cracks to me.

That's why I said a mud ball. They look like infilled cracks.
