Belemnite Battlefield

Today i carried this battlefield back up the cliff. I’ve been looking for a decent fresh one for a while. Unfortunately they are all quite heavy, like this one!

I think a bit of pen work and it will reveal even more!

anyone know the species?

Great find! I bet that it will look really nice if prepped out.

I would have had not problem deciding if I was going to carry that bad boy up a cliff or a mountain- in my backpack it would have been placed.

Great example, Liam, that should pen out well!

You've got the usual two species -  Acrocoelites vulgaris (fat) and A. subtenuis (thin). (You may also have Simpsonibelus dorsalis which is less common, and I've found a single, much larger A. trisulculosus which is previously unrecorded - it usually occurs much lower down, in the Jet Rock proper.)

The bed is part of the Ovaticeras ovatum layer, bed no. 48 of Howarth, at the top of both the Falciferum Zone and Mulgrave Shale Member (old Jet Rock Series.)

Here's one I've rough penned but needs finishing.
