Tidgy's Dad
Today, Sara has been introduced to Her Majesty, the Queen Tidgy. Ar first Tidgy was not amused. But then Sara must have said the right words................... And the two of them soon became quite chatty. Tomorrow they're playing a round of golf together. 17 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. Tidgy's Dad
The round of golf took a bit longer than expected. About four days longer. But in the last couple of days we got a chance to visit some places in Fes medina. wifey is helping Sara in some of these pictures. This first photo is one of the gates leading into our walled city; Bab Boujloud. The blue and white tiles are the colours of Fes, the other side of the gate is green and white representing the colours of Islam. Notice also the sign forbidding the use of motorcycles or bicycles. The medina is the largest urban pedestrianized zone in the world: 9,600 little streets and alleyways all car free, though, as can be seen in the photograph, some riders ignore the signs. In Marrakech motorbikes are not banned in the medina and are a real nuisance, but here there are only a few. We saw three all day and no pushbikes. Can you spot Sara in my friends art shop? The Magania Bouanania Water Clock. It was constructed in 1357. It's not quite certain how it worked and the plans were lost, but here's more info if you want to know : http://riadzany.blogspot.com/2016/03/magana-bouanania-famous-water-clock-in.html Under the clock is a tunnel that leads to the Café Clock. Lots of mosques can be seen from the cafe terrace, there are hundreds of them in the medina and the water clock's main function was to alert the muezzin of the exact time to call believers to prayer : Having some mint tea. It should be poured into the glass from a height to mix in oxygen for a better flavour. Looking at some trinkets in another friend's shop : (You can tell which photos I took, they're terrible.) And back at home, with a piece of calligraphy done by another friend. Of course, it says "Sara" in Classical Arabic: Sara says she's had a lovely time here, but it's time she moved on........................ 13 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. caldigger
Now to live up to the wonderful sights and journeys she has had so far. Once she makes landfall in England, we fully expect Sara to be meeting the Queen, being photographed on the top of the London Bridge and be able to try on the Crown Jewels. I am confident Bobby Rico can pull this off. Or just take some pics of Sara in the garden, your choice!

When Sara started out on her way to the airport, I suggested there could be multiple dinos making their way around the globe. George obviously had a problem with his passport expiring.

FossilNerd
This is awesome! Just one clarification... I know that If I take something out of Sara’s box I have to put something else back in. Could that something else be me??? Do you have anything to declare?” Sara says, “ Just this box of rocks (points to me...), and a package of fossils.” Customs says, “I’m sorry ma’am, but we don’t allow his kind into our country.
