Sara finally arrived here (just outside of London) yesterday morning! She was welcomed today by the horses, Pippin (the miniature Shetland pony) and Treela (who is very pregnant!). I think she was a little intimidated by the size of her enthusiastic welcome party, but we had some tea afterwards to calm down and warm up. We also watched the first part of what looks to be a nice series on the Natural History Museum in London on channel 5 for any UK members. I am lucky enough to volunteer there a few times a year in more normal times. I won’t be very active for the next couple of days as we are moving back to our university flat 250+ miles away tomorrow. I hope Sara enjoys her stay with us.

So, first of all I must apologise for the radio silence, I'm afraid that the last couple of weeks have thrown quite a few personal sadnesses and difficulties this way. Anyways, whilst I think Sara did not have the most interesting time here due to lockdown, I hope she at least got some good rest for the next part of her journey. She has certainly helped with some mundane tasks and brought some joy to me and my boyfriend. Here are some photos from the last couple of weeks.

Meeting a bounty hunter was a little intimidating...

Sara is surprisingly good at statistics and was a great help with some coursework

On a walk near Consiton Water, one of the lakes of the Lake District. It was bitterly cold and windy here and Sarah wanted her hat, but I knew it would blow away, Sarah couldn't even keep herself upright!

I have very little of my fossil collection here at my uni home, most of it is back in London. I hope Sara found them interesting anyway.

And finally, Sara helped me tidy up a slide of microfossils that got knocked around. Making microfossil slides is one of my favourite things to when I have the leftover mental capacity!

Having Sara with us has been a special joy, seeing the fossils that people have so generously donated and the written entries of Sara's travels have made the last few weeks significantly less lonely. I owe a thanks to everyone who has hosted her before me. Sara will be off to continue her adventure on Monday

It’s nice to hear from Sara, I didn’t know which country she was in. I’m looking forward to it.

Sara surely loved tea and horses. She's a good Ceratopsian, curious about all new things she sees.

Sara has arrived!  Must’ve been a long and boring trip from England to Canada as she seemed pretty sleepy and decided to take a rest in my collection.

Sadly I wish I could say I am.  I’ve been in probably the most stressful and worse part of my life currently.  And I have some horrible news that has added on to this.  Sarah has gone missing!  I’ve been searching every fossil site and location I took her with for the last two weeks!  I’ve looked everywhere and suspect and am afraid she might’ve been lost in a fossil hunting expedition.  I’m so stressed and sorry as she was Caldiggers, and I don’t want to ruin this tradition!  I feel horrible.  I’m so sorry.  I will keep looking though and for now will have to find a solution.  Again I’m so sorry and I honestly feel like a horrible person!

Oh no !

Did you take photos with her on the sites you were on ? If so, she must be on the last one you visited.

Oh that is very sad news indeed . . Have you thought of contacting local press and doing a missing dinosaur call out, somebody may have found her or will do in the future . Hopefully she can be found All the best Bobby and don’t worry to much .

Firstly, it's Sara, not Sarah, which shows your level of interest. My wifey is Sara not Sarah and I know how annoyed she gets about this.

It is also possibly why this dinosaur is called 'Sara', after my wifey.

Doren suggested not including teenagers in this game to start with and was worried this could go the same way as the previous attempt at this.

It seems he was correct, as usual, though I foolishly told him otherwise.

Please post your photos of the site that Sara disappeared at as Sophie   @fifbrindacier suggested, maybe somebody else can find her.

If you haven't done so already, do a thorough check of whatever field collecting equipment you brought with you (backpacks, buckets). If you were wearing a jacket with pockets, turn them inside out, and ditto for any pants worn during that time (and if Sara was left in a pocket of something that got washed, check the washer and dryer).

Hopefully this has taught you a valuable lesson about taking more care, diligence, and responsibility for those things that do not belong to you.

If you've done what Kane just told and didn't found her, check your photos to find the latest one where you see Sara, and once back on the site try to remind what you did between the time you took that photo and the time you came back to your car, where the car was precedently parked. Do this also with the last site you visited, even if you hadn't take photos with her.

But i'm sure you've thought about doing that by yourself.

But please, don't worry too much, in each situation there is a positive outcome.

This seems unnecessary. Dinosaur man clearly feels awful and there is no need to make him feel worse.

Please take some perspective here. Sara is wonderful and has brought happiness to many on this forum, myself included, but at the end of the day, she is a plastic dinosaur. If Sara is not found it will not be difficult to find a more than suitable alternative that will bring just as much fun and excitement to future recipients.

PLEASE, let's not play the blame game. We are ADULTS here. Instead, how about looking for a solution. Those of you that have had the pleasure of visiting with Sara, maybe search the internet for a replacement just like her. Your knowledge of her size, shape, and texture can hopefully find a likely replacement, allowing this tribute for Doren to continue. Even though I have yet to have the privilege of meeting her, I have begun searching with my limited knowledge.

@dinosaur man, mistakes happen. From my perspective, it could have happen to anyone, not just limited to you. You have my deepest sympathy.

I find that this is an excellent suggestion. @dinosaur man You have my sympathies, but I would suggest that you could be the one to search for a replacement and then continue on with the game as planned. This would help you make amends and would also carry on the tradition which Doren started. What do you say?
