Hi everyone,

I am currently trying to identify my collection of Crioceras from the lower Hauterivian of South France (Drôme) . It turns out the process is quite difficult...

thanks in advance for your help!

I thought the first two were probably Crioceras nolani due to the presence of prominent ribs on both ammonites...

whereas the others might be Crioceras loryi, curneri or duvali

What do you think?

Ps: Please forgive me for posting several posts to present the pictures I have encountered some difficulties trying to compress the images:unsure:

Larger pictures are better, use as many replies as needed.

Nice crioceratids :) South France is quite reputed for those kinds of ammonites ;)

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

It's very difficult to give a species name without the precise level. You must know the zone (loryi, nodosoplicatum) where these Crioceratites were be found.

I can’t be 100% sure but I have seen traces of Eulytoceras not far from the third and fourth ammonites  .... it could be loryi... and here is some finds in the very same area maybe it could help?

If you know the species of this ammonite I’ll be glad!

Aporrhais zitelli for the gastropod and probably a Phyllopachyceras infubidulum for the ammo..
