Ms Michal
This round concretion was given to me. It was found in Garland Texas in some woods. I have tried to ID the type of starfish but it split when I cracked open the concretion. There looks to be parts of more than one here as there are too many legs for one. I'm thinking the lighter spot of crystals is one that didn't form properly or the crystals destroyed the body. Also there is a tiny hole that looks like that was how the minerals replaced the bodies after they died. Well all 3 are in now thanks to Kane. The 3rd one is lower down. Thank you. Edited April 5, 2019 by Ms Michal I am an idiot lol.

digit
Yup. A really nice example of a septarian nodule/concretion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concretion#Septarian_concretions Not a fossil but a cool rock to have in a collection. I have a few from Mazon Creek that aren't as pretty as some of the beautiful agatized ones but still kind of neat. Cheers. -Ken

abyssunder
Septarian nodule / concretion, I agree. 1 " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way.
