Parking lot

Found another fossil? At my work place parking lot, glanced down and saw it. Looks like some kind of coral maybe? It's about 2 inches by 1 inch.

Assuming it's a fossil and not geological, I'm thinking it's a sponge, but I can't id genus or species.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!

Alright, as I said I noticed it and wasnt quite sure if it was a fossil or not. Theres a lot of stuff in the parking lot that I'm not sure are fossil or not. Thanks for the reply.

That's exactly what I'm saying too. Not sure if it is a fossil, but if it is I'm guessing sponge. I have found some good specimens in parking lots.

Me too.

A boring sponge such as Entobia, possibly.

Boring as it tunnels into things, not as in uninteresting. :D

Haha I see, I'm new to the fossil world so if I see something of interest I usually pick it up and keep it :)

So do people who are NOT new to fossil hunting. Rule of thumb: If you're not sure, take it home to figure out! If you figure it isn't a fossil, it's still a cool rock.

I'm leaning toward Entobia.
