Rosemary
I pulled this from the creek and wanted to know if it has enough information to posit an ID.
MSirmon
Can you give us the location of the find? Creek name, close town? It will help narrow down the age of the geology.
ynot
Pictures of the ends and other sides may help with an ID. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." ynot
I get the impression it is a partial clam shell, but that is a guess. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Rosemary
May I ask which feature/s indicates a possible clam shell? Also, I wondered about the ridge visible in the last of the pics and notice the "ribs" from the right extend across it. Is that characteristic of a clam fossil? (I'm trying to learn tips in IDing my fossils. Thx)

The general shape and the "ribbing" are the features I see that look like some types of clams. But with a piece that is so worn it is just a guess. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys."
