rapp beach tooth

@Al Dente Not having much luck trying to find a match on google images.  About 3 cm = 1 1/4 inch long.  Flat surface with four whorls with center hole in each, one end raised and additional  piece at the raised end.  Hopefully the cell phone photos are adequate to ID.  Last photo is where the root should be attached.

Something in the line of a very senile swine perhaps?

That was my first impression. Though better more in focus pictures could change that.

Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt
behind the trailer, my desert
Them red clay piles are heaven on earth
I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

Thanks everyone!  Virginia has no feral pigs, so leftover pieces probably just dumped into the river years ago.

With all the feral hogs throughout North Carolina, I would find it hard to think there are none in Virginia.

There may be some minor populations of feral pigs, but the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has long been proud of not having wild boar, and is concerned that hunters may have brought some in.  The damage they do is not worth the hunting bonus.
