Otoliths near Aquasco, Prince George's Co., Md

Hi,

 

Could you put close-up pics with the otoliths gathered by similarities, for there I see at least three different forms.

Hi Coco,

 

Sorry about that.  The first photo shows 3 otoliths with a fairly straight cauda, the 4th one a little different.  It seems to have a slight angle.  The second photo show the middle two to be similar.  I will send the shell photos in a new thread, have to reduce their size.

Hi Coco,

Hi,

 

1st line : perhaps Genyonemus but I’m not convinced.

2nd line : perhaps 3 different species -> 1 ? - 2 & 3 perhaps Leiostomus - 4 doesn’t seem to be in the PDF.

 

Your otoliths look very worn, I don’t see the crenulations and their edges may be non-compliant because eroded. I can’t do better.

Thank you for your input.  I should be able to post some of the shell fossil photos today.
