Upper carboniferous hunting

Kanopus

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Previous weekend me and my friend (paleozoic echinoderms researcher) spent in the quarry near Kasimov (Ryazan region, Russia) where upper carboniferous (pennsylvanian) deposits are exposed. This was an opening of the new fossil hunting season.

The main target were echinoderms and especially crinoids.

The weather was not very comfortable (+6 C and some rain) but perfect for echinoderm hunting. They become contrast and much more visible when wet.

Here is some pictures.

Spectacular!!

It is terrific to see fossil locations from areas that are far distant. Looks like you found some really nice specimens. Looking forward to seeing some of your finds cleaned and prepped.

Cheers.

Spectacular! Looks like heaven to hunt. Really lovely echinoderms.

Is this the quarry from which your Jacksonechinus sp. originated?

Beautiful fossils!  I, too, love the in-situ pictures - it makes us feel like we're on the hunt, too!  Congratulations!
