MP4 video link. Worked for me & this is a screen shot of the "fish" she's talking about. Kind of interesting looking.

These are not fish, but shield shrimp from the family Triopsidae. They do appear in some regions after a big rain or flooding. From an evolutionary standpoint, they have changed little since they emerged in the Triassic.

Ha! Puts me in mind of the old ads in comic books for these (also a form of shrimp):

Very cool! My Triops never hatched, my sea monkeys did though:)

Remember for 10th grade marine sciences class, we had some sea monkies (pretty sure they're actually just little fairy or brine shrrimp). After one night they all suddenly died & it was likely the worst smell I've ever had to endure. 110% not worth it

Dabled once with triops, got some to hatch but apparently are really sensitive to hard water/ excess food. Even under ideal conditions (proper water balance, big tank, etc.) they only live a few months

They do have a remarkable but superficial resemblance to cephalaspid fish.  Kind of like how larval water penny beetles resemble trilobites.

Triops Canciformis -- Their eggs can lie dormant until the next flood. I believe it is an endangered species.

Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
