alexhofstetter
Hi. Brand new here. Over 20 years ago I had a Chinese business colleague who traveled regularly to Brazil. He showed me a beautiful piece once when I was visiting him. A while later he brought me this fossil as a gift. I’ve always loved it but know very little about it. I’m sure this is familiar to you guys. Anything you can tell me about it would be deeply appreciated
Fossildude19
Welcome to the Forum. This looks like a Rhacolepis buccalis to me. What is the size of this fossil? 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Carl
It looks genuine but also quite doctored. Commercially, these are enhanced by carving the edge of the fish, especially the fins, sharper. This definitely looks like it was treated that way.
