Pterygotus
A forum member recently offered these teeth. One as partial torvosaurus or megalosaurid and the second as dromaeosaur. How rare are they and what is the exact ID if possible?
gigantoraptor
All Portugese teeth are rare, but we will need beter pictures, more info (denticle density, size, etc...) to determine what these teeth are. Teeth from Portugal are not easy to ID, so it could be we won't get further than Theropod indet.
TyBoy
Its close to impossible to identify these theropod teeth from just photo. Its even more difficult since they are partials and the best you can probably do is Theropod indet.
Troodon
Like others have said and I continue to mention on every post you cannot ID most Jurassic teeth from photos unless the tooth has something diagnostic about it like anterior Ceratosaurus teeth which have grooves in them. Anyone that tries is just guessing since Paleontologists have a difficult time with IDs and typically only suggest possible family levels. So your best bet to just get to a FAMILY level ID is to purchase good QUALITY teeth that are COMPLETE with most of the serrations visible. Then you need to provide the following information for analysis. Nothing less: Crown Height - CH Crown Base Length - CBL Crown Base Width - CBW Distal Serration Count - midline 2-5 mm wide depending on size of tooth Mesial Serration Count - midcarina 1-3 mm wide depending on size of tooth Photo of both sides Photo of mesial carina Photo of base Closeup of denticles both edges if possible I will then be glad to help in identification but there are no guarantees we can get to a level higher than Theropod indet.
