As I was cataloging specimens collected at Lake Jacksboro I came across this sweet little fossil that I found there last February. The site is Pennsylvanian but this beautiful little oyster is NOT. And luckily I am experienced enough to recognize it was out of place. But not all collectors are...

 

Please, please, please be careful and try not to drop stuff out of your pockets, bags or bins from previous collecting sites. 

 

Oh, and if anyone recognizes or remembers this little gem let me know. I’ll pop it in the mail to you. 

 

PS it is about 17mm wide
