The Jersey Devil
Hi everyone, I got this interesting peripheral turtle shell from the Late Campanian Wenonah formation of NJ. It is not reworked and seems to be IDable. It also has some interesting shark predation marks on the top of the first pic. It is about 2.75” X 2.25” @non-remanié Thanks for any help! 1 “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal
hemipristis
Nifty piece. The only other place that I've seen that level of original preservation (i.e., not phosphatized) in turtle shell in NJ is the Sewell Pit. I'd be curious to ID. 1 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' George Santayana
frankh8147
From what I heard, I don't think it can be 100% identified but is probably C.Atlantica (I think there are a few similar turtles).
