I have found quite a few of these over the years, but have never ID'd them.  Very distinctive features and always the exact same size it seems.

Okay very interesting.  Much different looking than a horse calcaneum.

 I was way off because I was thinking that the distal end, with its shape/contours, mated up to another bone. but instead, it is terminal.
