Katherinez
This is a new one to me and I would love some help identifying it. That is a deck nail next to it for size comparison. Thanks everyone!

Katherinez
We find crab fossils and this isn't anything like them from what we've found so far. I was wondering about a coral or some kind of worm tube? Someone mentioned tooth but I am not convinced.
Mark Kmiecik
Looks like a well-worn fragment of a tooth wall to me, but this is not my area of expertise so wait for others to chime in. P.S. -- It would be good to show a photo of the other side as well as all four edges. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them! snolly50
Seeing the "back" would be helpful; but my impression from the image is a sea-worn bivalve shell fragment. Mark Kmiecik
"Other side" means the one that's not shown in the original photo, as in "the side facing the table". "Edges" means the four sides that aren't the side in the first photo or the other side. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them! Katherinez
Yes, thank you. Sadly I left it in Corolla... I won't be back for two weeks. I am really curious about this one and will take pix of the edges and bottom. What would be best... additional pictures here in two weeks or making a new post? Thank you so much. Everyone is so helpful on this forum!

Keep it in one thread... gives better continuity. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
