Well, we've had Brachiopods and Trilobites, so I figured let's give fish a try!  I am going to start this off with my Enchodus marchesettii from the Hakel Quarry of Lebanon. Not only is this fossil 100% complete with the only restoration done was repairing the matrix itself, but I received this from one of my good friends on none other than my birthday! This is my favorite fossil in my ENTIRE collection! More will come from the Greenriver side of my collection, I just gotta get my camera fixed :fingerscrossed:

Here is a couple of my favorites.

It's not very big ( fish is only about 6cm long ) nor is it rare ( quite common actually ), but it is complete with lots of fine details.

Jiang hanichthys from Hubai Province of China.

Cretaceous Period

20190507_212527.jpg

And yet another Asian fishy.

Lycoptera davidi

Jurassic Period

W. Liaoning Province, China

This is a little guy at only 3.5cm

Sorry for the poor picture quality.  Photos taken at a distance behind cabinet glass. It kind of blurs out the detailed refinements.

Beware the headless fish, my friend.
As it wiggles through your dreams.
Searching for its forward end,
While silently it screams.

Here is one of my more "interesting" specimens, it is a Europholis boissieri with preserved stomach contents! In its gut it has a Armigatus.

Ow and I nearly forget my Prionolepis from Haqel in Lebanon (100 - 94 million years old)
Also one of my favorite, the scales have a very special shine in certain light.

  • 5 weeks later...

This is my favorite fish. A gift from the workers at American Fossil Quarry when my family visited Kemmerer a few years ago. I believe it is the tail to Phareodus encaustus
