Jean-Pierre Some areas of the M&M Ranch have beautiful chocolate colored bones and skulls. Other areas of the M&M Ranch have white colored bones and skulls. The turtle/tortoise colors vary even more from white to tan to brown to even black. Anything exposed gets bleached white fairly fast. Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." Mike Mike Do you get to do any fossil collecting in the US? The M&M Ranch in Nebraska is a long 26 hour drive from where I live in Virginia. However, much closer than from Australia. I believe that the last trip for this year is already fully booked. In order to properly steward the land, my sons only allow access to a limited number of people for a few collecting trips each year. http://www.m-mfossildigs.com/index.html Marco Sr. Will do. Thanks! MarcoSr
I thought that I would share with TFF members these pictures that my son Mel just posted on Facebook of an awesome Hyaenodon skull found by Eric on the M&M ranch during the spring 2019 trip. MarcoSr
Two quick updates to this post. First a mesohippus horse skull from the ranch just posted by my son Mel on Facebook: Secondly my sons just got a fossil lease on a great dinosaur ranch. Hopefully I'll be posting some dinosaur specimens in the near future. Marco Sr. 3 1 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." MarcoSr
It has been a while since I've posted anything from our ranch. My son Mel found 2 saber cats in 2020 and 2 saber cats so far in 2021 on the ranch. Below is one of the 2020 saber cats (8 inch Dinictis felina skull) that Mel got back from prep this year. This is the biggest saber cat skull that he has found on the ranch so far. Marco Sr. 9 "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." I use a picture of one from the ranch as my TFF avatar. My two sons have now found 11 or 12 from the ranch. One of the 2021 saber cats also had other bones, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that one preps out. Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." Marco Sr. No I never travelled overseas much - my idea of a holiday is to go fossicking though and collecting something different is always enjoyed always like that upgrade in display specimen of something new. Always enjoy seeing quality specimens on TFF from the members. Most of my fossicking trips are only 7 hours each way to to visit family its 15 hours to the closest relative so needs time. Ya, the drive from Australia is a bit tiresome ( and wet! )....better to take the train. Caldigger I have not attached a snorkel to my 4x4 yet and not keen to drive in salt water as not much good for the car
FossilDAWG
One day I'd love to book a few days collecting on the M & M ranch. Maybe I'll treat myself when I retire, but that won't come for several years. Don

Don Don Mel pretty much stopped leading trips this year on the ranch, with one exception, because he couldn't get the time off from his job. However, Marco Jr. is moving out to Nebraska/South Dakota by early next year, so between the two of them, they should be able to start up the trips again.
