ynot
Welcome to TFF! Where was this found? Does it feel glassy or waxxy? How heavy does it feel compared to similar sized rocks? It looks like a large ceramic marble, but that opinion may change with further information. 1 Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." cat1
Not waxy. It's smooth. Not glassy though. Feels about the same weight as other rocks in this size. I'm not sure where it was found, since it was park of a relatives rock collection that I acquired.

Rockwood
Concretions are common in the most likely source of the ferns, near St. Clair, PA. It would seem a good bet that that is what this is.
caldigger
The sphere is probably ball mill medium.
Mark Kmiecik
The second one is most likely Pecopteris sp. Would need closer up better focused photo to be sure. The first is, well -- are there any metal casting factories near where this was found -- metal castings are tumbled in a drum with stone balls of various sizes to remove burrs and flashing formed during manufacture. Looks like Caldigger pushed "enter" first. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
