Jaspers Legacy
I found what looks like a tooth in the Peace River near Arcadia, Florida. Any idea what it came from?

Harry Pristis
I agree . . . it's a senile upper bison tooth 2 http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest
digit
Nice find! Bison are a lot less common than horse in the Peace River. BTW: The term "senile" in Harry's comment above just means that it is from an old individual as evidenced by the very worn down occlusal (chewing) surface--has nothing to do with the mental capacity of the tooth. Welcome to the forum--what a great fossil to lead off with. Cheers. -Ken
Jaspers Legacy
Thanks everyone! I'm so excited to have found this forum. Very interesting way to spend an evening. Thanks, Ken, for clarifying. The language is definitely over my head sometimes...but I'll get there.
