hobbitfeet
I found this within 1 minute at a new spot in Fenton, Missouri that I heard about on the Missouri fossil page on Facebook. I had to glue a part back on and I've started cleaning it up. I think it's part of a large crinoid either the holdfast or less likely the head that's upside down. What do you guys think? CSimpson176
Seems like an upside down calyx (head) to me, especially with what seems to be the symmetrical array of what looks to be the arms around it. Though the indention in the middle of the specimen makes me wonder, especially with all the morphological variants of holdfasts.
Mark Kmiecik
Looks more like holdfast than calyx to me. 2 Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
ynot
I think a holdfast is a good possibility. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." abyssunder
It looks like a crinoid holdfast, to me.
