Help ID please

Found on a river bed in Sussex, south coast of England. No idea what it is. Any ideas ? Thanks

I have no idea how big/small it is. The cracks' general shape does suggest clay.

It's quite small maybe an inch and a half by and inch. And very light. Also the colour is more creamy than it appears in the picture

I see no grain at all when I enlarge the photos you've provided, which leads me to think that it may be a man-made substance that is not rock. It's most definitely not a fossil. How hard is it? Can you scratch it with a butter knife? To be honest, it looks like a bit of dried up chewing gum.

Plastic explosives will just slowly burn. Not good to inhale the fumes though. You can even shoot the stuff without consequence. However, if you lit it on fire & then hit it with a hammer or shot it it might explode (or so I've been told).
