New Old Finds From the Collection

Back in January I bought a new 15 drawer cabinet and have slowly been transferring my collection to it. Going through my old finds, some of which have been boxed and/or bagged away I haven't seen for years has been a pleasure and some new gems have turned up that I had overlooked the first time around.

There was this Actinodesma erectum, a pteriomorph bivalve which had broken when it was excavated last summer at Cole Hill.

I was gluing it back together and just as I was getting ready to attach the last piece I found this on the other side; a pair of Dipleura dekayi cephalons.

Going through some material found at the Glenerie (Lower Devonian) site way back in 2012, was this piece which I probably wasn't able to identify at the time and so stored away and forgot about. It turns out it is the base of the calyx of the crinoid, Edriocrinus pocilliformis, the only crinoid fossil I ever saw from the Glenerie site.

Very nice. :)

It's amazing going back through ones old finds and rediscovering pieces you've forgotten you had and others you never knew you had.
