Yasmin95
Hey guys, I am currently working on a piece from the KemKem beds, and each time I am working on it it gets more interesting. Or weirder. It is about 35cm in length and starting to show dimples, curves and ridges. I am starting to loose the overview for the cleaning process Can somebody help me identifying this piece or does anybody know/have an idea of what this is? All tips are welcome

Haravex
can we get a few pictures with the fossil completely on screen? also if you could refrain from using obtuse angles, as this makes identification straight shots are far superior. LordTrilobite
Yes, better photos please. It's very hard to tell the shape from these photos. The first photo in the third post looks like a suture. Reminds me of skull material. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

PaleoNoel
Looks like it could be a large piece of crocodile jaw with the pattern on the edge, although there appears to be some matrix left on it so I'm not sure how pronounced the markings are. LordTrilobite
I agree with PaleoNoel. I'm thinking croc angular specifically. Pretty good size too. Considering on which side the rough surface seems to be I'd say this would then be likely from the right side. Modern croc for reference. Angular is labeled 'an' But more prep might give more info. 1 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite
Alex Pritchard
This is 100 percent crocodile. I have a piece that is pretty much the same!
