11mm long. Found in Santa Barbara County, near Lake Cachuma, in the Monterey Formation (Miocene).

It looks to me like an isopod. I've looked at online databases from the Natural History Museums of Santa Barbara and LA County, and searched the scientific literature, but could not find anything resembling it.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions.

This has been identified on Twitter as a fish scale; thanks to Dr. Shaena Montanari, Dr. Seth Finnegan and Dr. Ashley W. Poust!

Not an  isopod, segments wrong, no cephalon, no pleon.

They already decided that and identified the speciman 2 years ago.

Yeah, it's nice to get an ID but it helps to know why it isn't something else even two years later.
