Nautiloid Siphunculus?

Hi there folks,

Just need to know if I'm seeing this right.

This is a piece from Madagascar I recently received. At first I didn't give much attention to it, but today i noticed the three small markings on the center of the piece.

My question is: Would that be the reminiscent of the siphunculus of a Nautiloid specimen?

Piece is from Madagascar.

Thanks in advance,

Juliano

You got it right. That is not just reminiscent. Those are the sliced-through remains of the siphuncle which runs through the middle of the critter. Maybe you can see more in the other half if you have it.

It's probably a Cenoceras, but I'd need to see the other side to get a better idea.

Here's the other side.

Sorry for the bad light quality. Just took a quick photograph now.

Don't know if it's possible to get a clue on it.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, I'd call it Cenoceras.
