Rockwood
That would be a piece of an ammonite.

Rockwood
Another coiled cephalopod. Nautiloid, I think, perhaps ammonite.
Chris Kimo
Yeah thanks! I thought it could have been Just the underside of the fossil with its detail isn't like any other ammonite I've found. Any idea on the other pic I've posted? that's the one that's puzzling me!
Chris Kimo
Thank you for your advice! I'll do some research on them.

Manticocerasman
First picture indeed a part of an ammonite, The second picture is a nice fossil Nautilus. Did you find them in the area of Kent? if so the are early cretaceous ( Albian ) growing old is mandatory but growing up is optional.
Tidgy's Dad
They look to me like they may be from the Gault Clay of the Folkestone area? If so the ammonite is likely to be from the family Hoplitidae, possibly Euhoplites. And the nautiloid could be Eutrephoceras. 2 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend. Chris Kimo
Thank you so much for all of your input! Yes Folkstone was the location I discovered these. I'm lucky enough to work all over the country so anywhere I go I research fossil locations in that area and make the most of my days. Just waiting for some jobs close to the Jurassic coast and if not I'll plan a trip down there soon. Thanks tidgys dad for including the possible species I'll look them up!
